To counter inflation, thirty-eight million people will receive compensation of 100 euros to cope with the soaring prices of energy and fuel. It concerns people, regardless of status, including students, who earn less than €2,000 a month. Awarded individually and automatically, this bonus is tax free.
To help the poorest families cope with rising prices, especially of fuel, electricity and gasgas, Prime Minister Jean Castex announced the payment of an exceptional aid of 100 euros from the end of this year. This aid, finally preferred to the “fuel check”, will be automatically disbursed to those who earn less than 2,000 euros net per month.
The inflation allowance affects all French people who earn less than 2,000 euros net per month (before withholding tax), or about 38 million people. The aid of the amount of 100 euros concerns employees, the self-employed, people looking for work, pensioners, recipients of the Active Solidarity Income (RSARSA), apprentices and students (including scholarship holders), provided that the latter are fiscally independent from their parents. A scenario that would represent two-thirds of students, according to Gabriel Attal, a government spokesman, interviewed on Friday 22 October on France 2.
It should also be noted that this “inflation allowance” will be made without distinction between motorists and users of another means of transport. The collection will also take place on an individual basis, meaning that a family with two salaries of less than €2,000 net will receive €200 in aid. Finally, the fee will be tax-free.
The inflation allowance will be paid starting next December. You don’t need to take any action to benefit from it. The aid will be paid initially to employees, by the employer, starting in December. For public service employees, this will take place in January 2022. For self-employed workers (aid provided by Ussaf), pensioners (pension funds) and job seekers (Pôle emploi), payment will be made next February .
