Baldur’s Gate 3 it may eventually get DLC, but you shouldn’t expect that to happen anytime soon, according to Tom Butler, senior product manager at Larian Studios.
There is no way around that Baldur’s Gate 3 it’s a very big game. In fact, there’s a decent chance that even if you’ve been playing since it released for PC earlier this month, you’re still not done. Even so, that hasn’t stopped some from wondering whether Larian Studios will ever make DLC for the game, and apparently “discussions” for new content are already in motion.
In a interview with IGN at Gamescom, Butler revealed that, for now, the team’s focus is on launching the PS5 version of Baldur’s Gate 3, which will be in players’ hands on September 6 (well, September 3 for those who purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition). Then the focus will turn to patching across all platforms before the team takes a well-deserved break.
“We’re going to keep patching for a while, then we’ll all take a vacation and then decide what to do next,” Butler said. “But we really have discussions at the moment. We want to do more. We don’t know what yet.”
Exciting for those who have been patiently waiting for the release of Baldur’s Gate 3 ON Xbox Series X|Yes, maybe you won’t be waiting much longer for it. Yesterday (Thursday 24th August), it was confirmed by the head of Larian Studios, Swen Vincke, that following a meeting with Phil Spencer, “we have come up with a solution that allows us to carry Baldur’s Gate 3 to the Xbox players again this year, something we’ve been working on for some time now”. However, the Series S version will not include split-screen co-op.
At the moment we have not been given any indication of when exactly Baldur’s Gate 3 will release on Xbox, but apparently it will be within the next four months.
