New iPhones invariably mean new iPhone colors, and we’re already hearing about some of the iPhone 15 colors we could see at the series’ expected launch in September.
Based on the previous release, there will likely be a mix of old and new shades for each model, and we have a reasonable idea of what to expect from all four upcoming phones: iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, and iPhone 15. Pro and iPhone 15. Pro Max (or iPhone 15 Ultra, as it might be called).
Below you will find an overview of the colors we think could be included. This is based on a mix of rumors and what Apple typically does.
The colors of iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are said to be
Considering previous iPhone models, there will likely be five shades of iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus at launch, with the two phones almost certainly set to be available in the same colors as each other.
At the time of writing, there are six shades that all seem possible, so at least one of the options below probably won’t make it, or perhaps could be rolled out later.
Cyan
A color leak points to a cyan iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus model. This is from a source who correctly leaked the yellow iPhone 14, so it’s a claim worth taking seriously.
They add that these phones will apparently have a textured matte glass back – much like an iPhone 14 Pro – rather than the glossy finish found on the iPhone 14. If true, this could affect the appearance of each shade on the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus .
This color will reportedly be similar to the green hue offered on the iPhone 12, which we haven’t seen since, although other darker greens have been offered.
Rumors of a cyan iPhone 15 were further confirmed in July, when another Weibo user said the iPhone 15 will be offered in a mint green color similar to “the green of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 11.”
Sky blue
A source he speaks to 9to5Mac says Apple is considering a light blue hue for the iPhone 15, a hue that could be along the lines of the hexagonal shade of color pictured above, which is quite different from the blue offered by the iPhone 14.
However, while this color was apparently in testing back in February (when the request was made), the source warned that Apple could change its plans closer to release.
Let’s say it has a good chance of making it, as Apple has included a blue model in the last few generations of iPhones. On the other hand, that may mean it’s time for a change.
Rose
The same 9to5Mac source also mentioned pink as a possible color, with the hexadecimal color the shade above is the specific shade of pink we might be seeing.
They added the same caveat as azure – namely that this color was apparently in testing, but may not be released. Apple has used pink before, including with the iPhone 13, but the iPhone 14 is not available in pink and the shade used by the iPhone 13 is much lighter than the shade mentioned above.
Rumors of a pink iPhone 15 resurfaced in July, when a serial leaker from Apple ShrimpApplePro tweeted information from a Foxconn employee who claims to have seen the “green, light yellow and pink” iPhone 15 models live.
Midnight
Midnight is the name Apple gives to the off-black hue we’ve seen used in the iPhone 14 and iPhone 13. The iPhone 12 and iPhone 11 didn’t offer it, but they did have a similar black hue.
So while there are no rumors yet of a Midnight option, we’re guessing that this or another black or near-black color will be offered with the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus.
As a general rule in the mobile phone market, it doesn’t matter how many colors a product is available in, there is virtually always a black option.
Starlight
Starlight is another color that Apple has been using for a long time. This off-white shade was similarly used on the iPhone 14 and iPhone 13, with another shade of white offered on the iPhone 12 and iPhone 11.
So Starlight, white or something else close to white will likely be offered on these upcoming phones.
Product (RED)
Finally we come to the Product (RED), which – as the name suggests – is a red shade, and this too has been used frequently by Apple in the past. Specifically, the iPhones 14, 13, 12, and 11 were all offered in this hue, as were numerous even older models.
This long history, coupled with the fact that a portion of the proceeds from the purchase of this color goes to charity, means that we are almost certain that Apple will offer the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus in some form of (RED) product.
The colors of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are rumored
The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will most likely be offered in a different selection of shades than the phones above, but in the same colors as each other. You can probably expect four different color options in total.
Dark red
Several sources have indicated that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will be available in a new dark red or deep red hue.
We heard it from the same sources as the cyan and light blue/pink shades above. 9to5Mac and Ian Zelbo created a rendering of what this could look like, which you can see above. We’ve included the exact entries as well hexagonal dark red for the shade.
Silver
An early rumor from December last year points to a silver hue offered on the iPhone 15 Pro Max (or iPhone 15 Ultra as this leaker calls it), similar to the color of the Apple Watch Ultra. However, they do suggest that this shade will be exclusive to that phone and not available on the iPhone 15 Pro – something we haven’t seen from Apple in recent years (dividing color options among its Pro models).
We’re not too convinced and the source doesn’t have a great track record, so we’d take it with a healthy dose of salt.
That said, Apple has a long history of offering silver on Pro models, so while we doubt this is a Pro Max exclusive, it wouldn’t be all that surprising if both Pro models were available in silver.
Gold
We’ve run out of rumors now, but one hue most likely is gold, as every previous Pro model came in a gold color. The exact shade of the gold has varied slightly, but it’s always been a pale, understated finish, so it likely will be again.
However, a new report suggests Apple is eliminating the gold color due to the move to titanium edges and therefore the need for a color that works with the material. It is thought that gold will disappear and Apple will return to offering a gray version of the iPhone Pro.
Graphite, Space Gray or Space Black
Likewise, every previous Pro model came in graphite, space gray, or space black, all variations of gray.
So while we can’t predict exactly which of these will be used this year, it’s very likely that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will come in some kind of gray shade.
